Wondering what you guys are paying for the .45 caliber Shield? I paid $389.99 plus tax or around $414 OTD. If I ever get the $75 rebate I will be out $339 for the purchase.

Mine was around $250 after rebate, this was during the summer deals at Palmetto State Armory, I think it was a Father's Day special or something. The rebate offer was from S&W.

I bought my Shield 45 over a year ago...it was the first one in at my LGS. I paid $435 plus tax. It was made on August 29, 2016 and has a thumb safety.

I bought mine in February, just before the rebates, for $349 at GrabAGun. I have an uncanny knack for buying guns just before rebates are announced. If you ever read one of my posts reporting on my latest new S&W, and you are considering buying one of those for yourself, be patient. That means that S&W will soon be announcing rebates on that model.

Too Cheap Not to Buy

With rebate from PSA back in the summer it was 239, my FFL charges $20 for the handling and the paper, so under 260 delivered. Only bought it because it was so cheap now it's my favorite EDC.

I would, if it had the safety that is. I really want to move up to a 45.

This one wouldn't have worked for you, no safety. I picked it up for $278 out the door this evening. This is my third Shield, and my second in .45, none of which had the manual safety. This one will be my Motorcycle carry come Spring. :D

As of yesterday my local cabelas has the 45 shield, both models for 369 and 75usd cabelas gift card as part of purchase. Not a bad deal.

On November 21st 2017 I bought at Cabelas the Shield 45 without safety and with night sights for $425 + tax. They also gave me a cabelas $75 gift card and also a 5% military discount off the $425 Not a bad deal .

Bought one yesterday. My 2nd Shield, also a PC model, this one in 45, no safety. @ Cabelas.
469 - Mil discount + tax with 75$ gift card. I am happy.
At least I can buy some extra mags and some right away.

Seeing these make me cringe just a tad. I paid $476 otd for my PC Model with the fiber optic sights. I doubt I’ll see the extra mags, ammo, and loader that was part of the rebate. However, I do like the gun an awefully lot, so it’s a moot point. I will say that it isn’t far superior to the gen 1 9mm Shield I previously owned.

The way I look at it is this: I bought mine on October 20, 2016, and paid $435 (plus tax.) If I had waited until now, 13 months or so later, I could have paid about a hundred dollars less...but I wouldn't have had the gun. SO, at $100 spread over 13 months, I spent $7.70 a month to have and enjoy this gun. That's barely a lunch at a fast food joint. I'm fine with that!

WOW, thanks guys. That is quite an education and shows that prices are all over the place. Assuming that S&W's dealer prices are fairly close, the differences in OTD pricing must be how much mark up a dealer can live with.

Unfortunately here in the Republic of Massachusetts, the gun has to be MA compliant which at the very least requires a 10 pound trigger pull. Possibly hiking the price to the dealer.

Apparently the legislative geniuses here feel that it will prevent accidental shootings involving young people who won't have the finger strength to pull back the trigger if it is set at 10 pounds.

Unfortunately for them, the law only affects the dealer to consumer sale and there is nothing in the law stating that the consumer can't then change the pull to something lighter. Just another example of gun laws made by folks that have no clue about guns or how to effectively correct any issues surrounding them.
