I hqve just been on the guns america web site and it seema to me that the prices asked for a lot of the guns are too high. Or is it just me.
I recently purchased a M 24-3 nib unfired for $700 at a gun show. There is a seller on guns america listing an identical one for $1050. Did I get a heck of a deal or is he way too high?

While the prices of the older good stuff continues to rise, I think gunboard auction prices are extremely optimistic. In most cases. Regards 18DAI.

I always though prices were set by the market. And just because someone has a high asking price doesn't mean he'll get it.

Market prices

I have bought 4 S&Ws in the last 2 months because of no bid / no sale auctions. I send an email with my "reasonable" offer which is declined. Repeat the offer 3 weeks later and a compromise is reached.

I don't feel I've over paid, but reading the forum indicates I may have paid a 10% to 15% premium. But, I've gotten Smiths I wanted at close to the price I wanted to pay for the quality I received. No locks are worth more to me.

I don't even bother looking at GA, not only is the site a nightmare, everything seems to be overpriced.

table with a WWII M1 garand he wanted $650 i told him i
would give him $450 and he took it . you never know until

A lot of this is due to the political climate. Comrade Obama and his cronies scare the heck out of us. Those of you that can remember back when Slick Willy was elected know that there was the same reaction in gun and ammo prices. After the '94 elections and we purged a few of these anti 2nd Amendment bleeding heart Marxists, the prices settled down some. We The People could exhale.

I suspect that after we "throw the trash out" this november that we may see this again.

Good deals on Guns America go quickly. Listings for overpriced guns don't expire so they make up the majority of the listings, or so it seems. I check the S&W revolvers every few days and some of those guns have been listed for more than a year...

We get a lot of value questions here, so I suspect many people don’t know how to research selling prices on the major internet auction sites.

You have to be a member and be logged in on both sites to view completed listings or even see that it’s an available option. Enter your search criteria like you’re looking for current auctions. On GB, go into the “Smart Search” function and select complete auctions found in the “Show Only” drop-down. I also like to “Sort By” the highest number of bids first, because a majority of items don’t attract bids. Just because it shows bids doesn’t mean it sold, either. You need to open the auction page and see if any reserve was met.

Ebay is similar, only the completed listings option in in the “Advanced Search” function.

I don't know if you noticed but a lot of the guns on GA are from a large sporting goods stores gun library. They are infamous for buying very low and selling high. Although, I guess they have to make a buck or two to pay all the guys they have standing around in those libraries shooting the breeze with the fondlers.
