Looking at getting a better red dot for my 15-22. I really do not want to spend more on the scope than the gun is worth. I currently have a UTG and it is just ok. It works but looking to get something just a little better. I would love an eotech or an aimpoint but we are talking a scope worth as much as my 15-22. Not good logic if you ask me. I think I have found the happy medium. I have read many reviews on the Primary Arms red dots and they all tend to get really good reviews. FYI... I have done a lot of searching on google about the primary arms and just about to pull the trigger. Before I pull the trigger I wanted to get a sanity check.

I would like any opinions or insight?

I have a couple PA MicroDots. Small and light weight. Not a big fan of spinning reticles. One stationary dot is enough.

I have the site you're looking at and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. PA is a standup company who backs their products and offers a level of customer service that is second to none.

That, and I really like the site. The glass is clear, the red dot(s) are bright and clearly visible during the day, and it looks good to boot.

Order that site with confidence. You won't regret it.

I've had that Primary Arms site for just a few days now and I'm very impressed. Plenty of settings, easy to install, and easy to zero. $110 with the riser is reasonable for this site.

Is there a reason you did not get the cantilever mount?

Is there a reason you did not get the cantilever mount?

The PA website states that the canitlever mount is only needed if a magnifier will be added to the rail. I don't plan on getting a magnifier. That being said, I kind of regret not choosing the cantilever now, because I may change my mind in the future.

PA is 12 miles from my house and I'm headed there Friday to get all the accessories for my rifle including that red dot. I hope the OP doesn't get the last one.

The cantilever mount is a cheap option if you want to get one after the fact. I got it originally because I didn't know if I would be getting a magnifier or not. I chose not to get a magnifier and went with a 1-4 scope instead. So, I had a cantilever mount that I really didn't need and got tired of the way it looked without a magnifier behind it.

So, I ordered the standard mount and love it.

However, this is all on the 30mm red dot, not the multi-rectal. The multi-rectal has a fixed base that is more like a standard riser mount (Gen 2 which is what I have). Just look at the pic on PA's site. It's nice, but not like either of the mounts I have in the pics above.

As far as a sanity check on PA, I think they are the best value out there for a red dot. I like the 30mm red dot better than my multi rectal only because of the lesser weight (smaller mount) and because I only use a red dot so the other rectals are pretty useless to me.

I do like the fact that the multi rectal (again, Gen 2) uses a AA battery. That's a big plus.

I don't have any experience with the gen 1 multi rectal but I'm sure it's nice.

If I were to get another one, I'd go with the $69 30mm red dot. It's simply a great value and a solid optic.

I would love to see what it looks like with the magnifier behind it...... I have been waiting for the micro red dot but it seems like I will be waiting for another year for this to come into stock! I will be wanting a magnifier for longer range targeting! Does anyone have the setup with Primary Arms Multi-Reticle 30mm Red Dot Sight with the x3 magnifier and can share a picture?

This is even more funny trying to type on a damn ipad mini. Trust me. I got a real good laugh out of this one. Lol. :-)

My only comment is that with some multi-reticle sights your POI may change when you change reticles. I recommend that you zero it with the reticle you plan on using the most.

I've got the PA m3 (I believe) red dot and love it. It was mounted on a 7.62x39 AK and just recently moved it to a Saiga in 308. Holds zero. Very good dot.

My sister has the microdot and I think I prefer that. "sharper" dot and less bulky.

That's too funny. Probably still thinking about the physical exam that I scheduled just hours before my response! I'm totally dreading it.
