Thank you Ancient-one, it is a sad state of affairs when we have to post info like this in a free country.

I have made my share of bad call's, but late in 2006 I made the right call. I bought 30K of eack, small rifle and small pistol primers for $78 per 5K. I really hated to spend that much cash at one time. Told the wife I think it will pay of in the long run.......ever dog finds a bone at some time.

Just wish I would have bought more powder!!!!

Indeed!

I think I still have one case I bought for $90, which was a deal 2 years ago. The two subsequent cases cost $115 and replacement cost would be $135-150 per case.

Powder? I just bought 3 more pounds of pistol powder and 2 of rifle powder; in part to use up a gift certificate and in part to avoid yet another price hike.

This situation is amazing to me. I'm just getting back into reloading after probably 20 years away from it. I couldn't find small pistol primers anywhere around Phoenix or any of the on-line suppliers I'm aware of. All out of stock. Went to the Cross Roads gun show on Friday and found essentially one vendor that had them, and powder. The line was about 20 minutes long to get either. I couldn't believe the quantities of both that I saw some individuals leaving with. Literally cases of each. They needed hand carts to haul them away.
You would think they were reloading for a small army. I came away with a 5k box of primers and 3 lbs of w231 which will last me for a long time. $122.95 for primers; $21.95 per lb of w231. Overall, the show was very crowded and I thought gun prices in general were up considerably.

"This too, will end".

It is just a "run on the bank" type of mindless buying. Just wait another six months and you will be able to get all you need. However, the prices will stay high for the foreseeable future (at least that is what my crystal ball says).

Fortunately, I bought 20,000 primers before the current shortage. The signs were there if you could read them...

I have plenty of primers but I also wish I could have gotten more powder before the prices went nuts! (I bought between $19.95/K and $22.95/K) I could use more bullets too.
