Scored some more primers today at a local reloading shop, 2k each of small pistol and small rifle. In addition to what I already have on hand, I should be good thru next year!! Powder is getting to be an issue here in Oregon, some is available but nothing I need. They have WW296 and Trail Boss but that's about it so I ordered eight pounds each of Ramshot Zip and Tac from Powder Valley. Figure if I have to pay the hazmat charge I may as well make it worth my while and $$! How's the powder situation elsewhere?

In this part of Kansas most powders can be found. And I have been able to find primers but the dealer is limiting the buyer to 400 per visit and charging $4.00 per hundred OUCH I happen to have enough in stock so I will wait until the price drops to a more sane level. I HOPE

As of this morning at coffee, I was told that both of our local shops have received a plethora of powder and primers.

However, at $39K for Federal primers and $22+ lb. for most powders, I'm going to hold off.

Things are getting tight everywhere. Some of the "lesser powders" are still available but the most common powders like W231, Unique, 4895, 4350 and Varget (and others) are almost never seen on the shelves.

A few weeks back I found 4 lbs. of Varget on a local store shelf. Even though I'm totally out of Varget I took only 3 of the 4 and left 1 for the next guy who is out of powder.

Around here (West Wisc) powder is $29.99 per pound and primers when they do come in are $40.00 per thousand....except when the greedy SOB's show up right ahead of me and buy the WHOLE stock of all sizes. If that isn't enough to make a person swear! Almost all powders are available.

About a week ago I bought 2lbs of 2400@$19.49/lb at the White Elephant in Spokane,Wa. Primers were also available, but I didn't need any, and did not inquire as to price.

saw small pistol primers at gun show in nashville going for $70 per thousand and people were buying it. don

"don't worry be happy"

Mike, when I ordered from Powder Valley, they were one week behind on orders which isn't bad. Got lucky today a guy I worked with at the range last week gave me 2.5 k of Federal Small Pistol primers, 500 primed 38spcl cases, approx 250 unprimed cases and 500 Oregon Trail laser cast bullets. He doesn't load for handgun anymore and wanted to get rid of it. Primers are from last year but who cares!!

I'm loading on primers from the last shortage in 94! As long as they are stored properly, priemrs last alooong time.

My 223 powder has dried up locally too, BL-(C)2. Hasn't been any in weeks and they don't know when they will be getting any either. Thankfully I have some still and a bunch or rounds already loaded!

Daggum boys. Some of you have it worse than me, some have it better! Powder is still mostly available for handgun stuff, except Bullseye of course, which is what I really needed! Powders were priced from $17.99/lb for most stuff, to $28+ for VV powders. (I'm still no fan of VV stuff, so that didn't bother me one bit!) Anyways, grabbed a couple more pounds of 231, some AA5 and AA7.

As for primers, yikes! All the shop had were percussion caps and 3 sleeves of Wolf large pistol primers. The sleeves were $40 each. I guess they weren't gouging horribly, but I still didn't bite.

You will not find a single primer here in alaska or powder. The barges can only ship up 300 ponds of powder at a time. Sportsmans Warehouse has been out for months.

I waw able to score 700 Federal Small Pistol primers today, yeah!!! My local gun store was cleaning up the place and getting rid of old empty boxes when low and behold he found a mostly filled box of primers. Luckily, I was doing my weekly what's new visit and buying some cleaning supplies. He let me have them for the price still on the box $1.50 per 100. How's hat for a reputable dealer in this age of price hikes?
