I have only used CCI or Winchester, no issues there. Add the fact that is what my Lee primer feeder says to use.

Try some 168 Amax bullets as well.

I've used W-W and/or CCI std. LR primers in ball equiv/match loads for years in '06 and 7.62 (M1, M14, and M1A) with no problems at all. Had some mil-spec primers but never used them and traded them off.

Now breaking in an M&P 10 and commercial primers in the 7.62 run fine. Got nothing against mil-spec but don't see a real need and commercial ones are easier to come by.

Usually mil-spec primers are recommended in AR style rifles. They are not necessary in a M&P10 because S&W included a firing pin return spring the stops the pin from protruding from the bolt during feeding.

8208XBR should ignite just fine with any large rifle primer you might have on ahnd.

I've always been a big fan of Remington 9 1/2 LR primers for all things large rifle. Seem to get "the" load using them more often than with CCI, Federal or Winchester could just be luck though

Study on 'slam-fires' in AR rifles

Good information on primers for AR usage Slam Fires and the AR Platform

This paper was apparently done for the AR-15. As Michigan Scott pointed out, the MP-10 has a firing pin spring installed into it which should mitigate any thin primers causing a problem. I found Mr Frog's information noteworthy, especially to anyone who also loads for the AR-15's.

Good point

Unquestionably one of the finer points of the MP-10. (A 15-cent spring) ;)

WLR primers in my 7.62 loads. Zero primer problems thus far. This thread might get more visibility in the reloading forum? Good luck!
