You are correct-that's why I gave my winning powerball ticket to that guy from Missouri. I just didn't want to have the responsibility of all that money and have to pay all those taxes-and besides, he looked like he needed it more than me.I wonder if she was able to pay the taxes on all those winnings, or if it caused more trouble than winning the stuff was worth?
I've heard horror stories...because income taxes must be paid on the winnings.
Easy if it's cash...not so easy if it is merchandise.
Also, many winnings can be "overvalued" and priced at full MSRP on forms, rather than what they would actually sell for...

That girl was under a lot of pressure and she pulled it off. I wonder how many of the people that criticized her would have done any better? She won all three things, and went to the end of her 10 tries. The audience was screaming. You could tell Bob Barker was getting impatient. I think I would be pretty nervous also. I think her family should be proud of her.
