I was showing my 15-22 to my best friend and while shooting steel targets at 100 yds a round (remington) made a strange sound and didn't eject. The round looked like it had ruptured as if fired while out of battery. Thereafter the gun would stovepipe and fail to eject. Upon inspection there was no longer an extractor on the bolt. This happened at around the 400th round through the gun. Naturally it happens on a weekend when Smith is closed. I'll call monday and see if they want the whole gun, the bolt only or will send me the necessary parts.

Odds are they are going to want the whole gun, and the fired case too if possible.
That way they can test it to see if has or will fire out of battery.

Went through this myself. They are going to want the whole gun. So any accessories need to come off.

Out of curiosity, what are the first three letters of your serial number, and how long have you owned the rifle?
Update. Gun was picked up on March 22 after FedEx screwed up and didn't pick up on Monday as promised. (found out FedEx ground are independent contractors). Tracking shows gun arrived at Smith on Friday March 25. Called Smith today, gun has been shipped. They did not disclose what had been done. Might have it by this weekend but more likely after first of next week. I follow up again after it arrives.

Smith got the gun on Friday, shipped it out on Tuesday, and back in my hands on Friday. So gun was only gone 10 days. They did not tell me what they did but it appears to have new springs installed and the bolt looks new. They did send a new magazine with it!!!!
I finally got the the range and ran 175 rounds of Federal through it. Ran perfect. I shot it as fast as I could and never had a glitch.
Do I regret that I had the problem, yes. Am I glad it was a Smith with absolutely no hassle on getting it shipped and repaired, YES.
