Picked up a new 1911SS TA. It won't feed first round. Never been able to put one round through it. Tried jhp and round nose. Going to get in touch with dealer on Monday. Using factory mags that shipped with it. Round nose dives into feed ramp. Every round in Mag does it. Any thoughts

Sounds like time to send it back to S&W. I have a 1911SC that would do that occasionally when new. I sent it in and they reworked the feed ramp. Round count over 5,000 and working well. It doesn't like all magazines, but does like the S&W that came with the gun, Ruger 7 rounders and an 8 round Shooting Star.

I have both the TA and the scandium Commander and have had no issues with either. Got some 10 round Chip McCormick mags and they have been flawless with the TA. Have yet to try them in the commander.

Are you by any chance riding the slide back to battery? That could cause poor feeding. Letting the slide slam home is the way to go with these guns. IMHO.

I have let the slide go . I have tried racking as hard as I can with both types of rounds. My concern is I have never had a gun I couldn't shoot the first ever round through. How is customer service? I am worried if it was shipped that way is it a gun that is always going to have issues.

That's not necessarily correct. Could just be that one issue. Send it back, have them fix it and try it out. Guns are mechanical devices made by humans. If it hasn't failed yet it will. Just the way it is

You'll in good hands with the S&W, they'll take great care of you. Best of luck and hope it works out.
