Hello everyone, I've just found an antique in my house! A revolver that has no apparent known brand of revolver, but which would date from the early 1900s. When I handled it to check that there were no bullets inside, I also noticed that the cylinder couldn't simply close, I had to press with my finger on a small piece inside the extractor star to be able to close it normally. Apart from that, I can't think of any other design faults. Please help me repair it !

Welcome to the S&W forums. Without more information and pictures, we really cannot tell you what you have. My guess is that the small piece in the center of the extractor is the center pin. If the center pin. There could be rust, or it could just be old, gummy, dirty oil that is causing difficult function.

What country are you in?

Do you know it is a real gun and not a prop for a Stage Play for example? Or a Starting Pistol for Racing Events and such.

That is why pictures are so important.

Found it in your house? Where, under the floor, inside a wall in the attic, buried in the basement? How did you not know about it? So far as the center pin the gun simply needs lubrication.

Photos are a BIG help. How can we help you fix it if we don't even know what it is or where you are located! We need something! From what you have said it could be S&W, or any of many other brands that have similar features to S&W guns such as Belgian or Spanish knock-offs from the early 20th century. What do you want to do with it, make it a wall-hanger, just make it pretty, or heaven forbid under the circumstances, do you want to shoot it?

Regarding the "no brand". Are there any markings anywhere, Serial number, caliber. dates, etc.

SGT ROCK 11B, post #7, makes several very pertinent points about what it might be.

Guy made one post a week ago and hasn't been back since.

I've sought help on different forums where I was the complete newbie and the other folks had expertise. Often, within the first reply I learned that my question was not one that could easily be solved online, and I went my way to either find a local expert or just lay that project/problem aside.
