He does pretty well with his own.

And was brave enough to try a couple of mine.

I loaded them singly so as to prevent an inadvertent double. They recoil heavily in his hands, though was unphased by it. He likes the Model 10 best, of course, but thought the 1911 was better to shoot than the HK. Maybe a little.

He really wants to try my Airweights. I told him he has some time to go. He's fired the 649 before. Maybe I'll let him fire a few 38 Specials from that at a few yards next time.

Well, shoot. I thought I was gonna see some pics of y'all shooting, not targets and guns. Plenty of that stuff here. Not nearly enough kids enjoying themselves. :(

He's 9.

Fair enough.

Thanks, all. The only downside is that I never have enough ammo left over to squirrel away.

More admiration from another dad who taught a daughter to shoot at about 7. She's now in her 40s and shoots about as well as I do (Beware the one-gun woman!) - maybe a mite better these days as my eyesight dims. Stay with it, you two, you'll never regret it!

Your screwed. My son is almost 21 and I started him about that age. Now I can't go to shoot without him. At the range he hands me ammo boxes, "Dad, we're out of 9mm", "Dad, we're out of 45acp". He eats my ammo! Reach for one of my pistols and he's shooting it! Loves to snicker at me when he shoots better than I do. Come Christmas or birthdays he asks for expensive firearms. When I buy a new gun he tells me "thanks for adding one to my inheritance"! He's such a ...
I wouldn't change a thing if I had to do it over again.

Enjoy him while you can at this age. Next thing you know he's asking for the car keys.

He says he wants to shoot like me. With a custom air rifle he has he can do just that. I'm sure the rest will come in time.

Rick A....thanks for sharing the videos and for teaching your son the "right-way" (safety and control).

BTW...I love the "big grin" on his face after his last shot in a couple of the videos. You've got a lot to be proud of. :D

He started on 22's and airguns. With the centerfires he got plenty of dry fire and snap cap practice in before doing it live.

It was purchased with him in mind. I wasn't a K frame guy until I tried that one out.

I liked it enough to get my own.

It's lacking the character but they're both incredible shooters.
