PSA: New scam

I've done that for a couple of years or maybe more. The Iphone 8 and later has a button that shuts off callers not listed in your contacts, so it's eazy-peazy now. I think, maybe, if your phone is not locked (like when you are using it, other calls come through, but hasn't happened to me, yet).

And, yes, I occasionally miss a call I might have taken, but the called failed to leave a voice mail, so, too bad.

I have very clear instructions in my voice mail answer, explaining why I didn't answer, telling anyone who really wants me to leave a VM, and that I check my phone several times a day.

We updated our messages: "If you are not a scam, leave a message. Otherwise hang up now." And I use nomorobo on our lines.
Friends; we are under attack. Anyone who would rob you, is attacking you. No matter how it's done, scam, trickery, fraud... it's still theft and it pisses me off.

It was hard for me too. But I have not missed it one bit. I turn my cell phone off and put it in my brief case. I have discover pure, unadulterated bliss—no phones at home. My idea of hell is a ringing phone.

But we have 10 lines at the office that ring continuously about 12-14 hours a day, so I get brought back to earth right quick!

I suggested discontinuing our land line like so many have done but with my disability, it's my "middle of the night emergency" plan. It has numerous loud bells so if I call the landline from my cell it wakes the whole house up.

We use an old fashioned answering machine to screen incoming calls... 98% scams. With our cells, no name, no answer.
