Why did they send mail to a “ dead man”?

Addressed to me but letter starts out: To the estate of ......
And the letter was from Blue Cross insurance.

Sounds like this is a Blue Cross and/or hospital created problem.

Its a very GOOD thing for you that SS does not show you deceased. That’s a whole other can of worms to fix.

I agree on calling the local office of your State Senator and State Representatives.

I thought they had fixed that. In my working life I was a Patient Accounting Director in a 325 bed hospital. The "Medicare" issued codes that go on the billings were "02" Discharged and "20" for Discharged Deceased (If I recall the terminology correctly after 17 years). A consortium of Patient Accounting managers, our Association AAHAM, (American Association of Hospital Administrative Managers) had filed multiple complaints about those required codes and I had thought the Discharged Deceased had been changed to some other code.

Just takes 1 typo to wipe someone out.

I am no longer dead, Medicare has corrected the error. Of course there isn't any explanation of what caused this mess or how it was corrected.
