PSA sale on S&W's

PSA sent an email with a sale on a S&W M686 Plus .357 Magnum SS 5" Pistol, Moon Clips – 178038 @ $799. This is a performance center product.

They indicated a $150 rebate which is not the case as the rebate on the "L" frames is only $100. Also of note is that this particular model is cut for Moon clips. It is my understanding that use of Moon Clips on this revolver is optional, you do not have to use them. I purchased one of the 686 Plus 5" revolvers last month and the rebate came in a couple of weeks.

I have one on the way.

I looked it up by the product number,
$799 seems like a good deal, $699 even better but a few observations.
First is I don't think these are "Performance Center " guns because they do not have the PC rollstamp, they are marked "Pro Series" but IIRC that's not the same thing as a PC gun.
Second thing is while there is no mention of it having a quick change front site that mounting pin is very far forward for just being pinned in, did you get yours yet and if so does it have the "IFS" front site?

That absolutely is a Pro Series revolver not a Performance Center revolver. The product code is a dead giveaway by itself. All Pro Series firearms start with 178xxx

And based on the images that are on the Smith and Wesson website that should have the IFS front sight

At $699 after rebate that is a heck of a deal

I just ordered this afternoon so I don't have it yet. You are correct it is a Pro Series and is so marked. They aren't specific as to the replaceable front sight but the S&W web sight shows this model number as having the sight. Also comes with 2 moon clips.

The S&W web page labels it as a performance center but I realize there is a difference.

The factory website refers to it as:
PERFORMANCE CENTER® PRO SERIES® MODEL 686 PLUS

A Pro Series revolver is a production manufactured firearm that has a few Performance Center features

A Performance Center revolver is manufactured in the Performance Center

And now I see Smith & Wesson 627 Pro Series 4" 8rd .357 Magnum Revolver, Stainless Steel - 178014 for $799 but it will qualify for a $150 rebate making it an even better buy.
