Putting a mat finish ona slide

I presume stainless, otherwise, a refinishing will be required. A coarse Scotchbrite pad, much like coarse wet/dry sandpaper, can put a somewhat matte, brushed finish on the top of a slide. Better than that would be a bead or aluminum oxide blasting.

Tape off and bead blast. My father in law has a blast cabinet I use for serious work, but if I'm just doing a quick spray, I have a Harbor Freight small gun style. I added a regulator on it so I can adjust pressure easier.
I just spray out in the yard and don't worry about wasting a few ounces of media. You'll wanna wear long sleeves, sturdy gloves and a face shield. I don't bother with a respirator if there's a breeze and I can stand up wind.
