How much expansion there is at the base of the case depends upon what pistol they where shot out of the time before and how generous the dimensions of the chambers are. I can drop spent cases shot from my Colts before resizing into the cylinder of one of my Smiths or Ruger and they chamber easily but the reverse is not true.
I've cured most of the occasional problems of this type by adjusting the resizing die closer to the shell holder or plate . Some times I think I can get a bit careless and not operate the ram to the full travel and can leave a very small bit of the case not fully sized.
