Am looking to buy, try and compare various SD ammo in the 50 round boxes. Which vendors are consistently competitive and fast to ship?

Also, do I have to be or indicate I'm a member of law enforcement to purchase or is this a safeguard question? thanks.

In my experience, most SD ammo comes in 20 or 25 round boxes. Try the online site Ammoseek for which vendor has the best prices.

I've never been asked if I'm LE when buying ammo online or in person, so I can't answer that question.

It depends on where you live as to any LEO status. In certain states a license or other special exemption is needed to buy ammo online and to be shipped.

I have had good interactions with SG Ammo. To save on shipping, be sure to buy plenty of rounds. :)

SGAmmo, Velocity Ammunition Sales, Target Sports USA have had competitive prices, occasional really good deals, well packed and fast shipping for me over the recent couple of years.

Whoever has it in stock and at a good price priced. Most manufacturers are still playing catch up from "supply chain issues" and cheap 50 round boxes of SD ammo are about the last thing to show back up at good prices.

If you want to try me, just send a PM and I'll look up what you are looking for.

2nd for Ammoseek which shows prices of multiple online sites.
Just be sure to include shipping costs when comparing prices.
Also plan to have an adult home to sign for delivery.

I would suggest looking at places that have already completed SD ammo testing, like the FBI, to see how performance is for various rounds.

There is also a great resource where most SD rounds have been tested by Lucky Gunner.

I would let those excellent sources of research do the leg work and then just buy a couple top ones to see what your firearm prefers.

I would also suggest SG and sometimes they have 50 round LE ammo boxes for sale, but not so much recently.

I went with non plus P critical duty 135 grain 9mm in my compact EDC.

FBI uses plus P version but I don't feel the need for vehicle penetration.

SG Ammo seems to offer the best prices. They have provided me with excellent customer service.

Norma Ammunition ( normashooting.com ) has been around for quite a while and has 50 round boxes of JHP on hand for a good price.

Except for the Weekends when they have a major sale going on, they usually ship within a couple days of the order being placed.

About the LEO question.......LE ammo is typically put up in 50 round boxes. It's also generally at a lower price. The ammo companies would rather the general public buy smaller boxes at higher prices.

There are states that forbid the general public from shipping ammo into the state.

I've bought a bunch of 50 round boxes of Winchester Ranger T ammo from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore.

The new ammo always said LEO Only, but if you look in the police trade in ammo section. They have the exact same ammo that non LEO can buy. Getting 50 rounds for around the same price as 25 is most cool.

Just checked and here are a couple good deals.

Winchester 40 S&W 180 gr JHP T-Series Police Trade 50/Box | Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore

Winchester 9mm Luger +P 90 gr Ranger Frangible Police Trade-In Ammo 50/Box | Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore
