cant do photos right now but a question concerning a model 27-2 serial# n365xx. it is nickle and looks really good and the cylinder has an n and the #2 on it. no other n markings at all. the left grip frame has a matching assembly# with that on the yoke also a few inspector marks a t a 9 and a 3.the right grip has a u in a circle a w in a triangle.the serial # on the frame and the grip butt match.the hammer and trigger are case hardened the extractor star is blues.that is about it.i suppose only a letter would help with whether it was shipped nickle or not.it has a 3.5 inch barrel.john

The N stamp is a pretty reliable sign of a factory nickel finish, but of course original would be valued higher than a redo. It is usually easy to tell a refinish. As always, a historical letter is the only way to be sure about original configuration and finish.

thanks for the help.john

Is the ejector star blued and are the trigger and hammer case hardened?

If all three of those items are nickeled, then it is a re-nickel. If they are not, then it is more likely an original nickel gun.

Usually, revolvers with a factory nickel finish have an N stamped on the lower left hand corner of the grip frame.

the grip frame has no n at all but the cylinder is marked with an n. the grip frame on the left side and right side only has the assembly number and various inspector marks. the gun carries the serial number on the butt and the frame.the assembly number is on the left grip frame and the yoke.john
