I'm looking for a bit of information on serial number 29986, shipped in May of 1903. By serial number and shipping date, this gun should be a 4-screw round-butt, model of 1902. However, a previous owner thought, and still does think, that the gun was a square butt, otherwise known as a Model of 1905. If anyone has this gun, would they please contact me, by either posting here, or sending a private mail, or to my email [email protected], or by phone 8582546922?

Thanks for any help, Mike Priwer

Serial 58000, in Roy's books, is the start of the square butt model, and that is January 1905. 29986 shipped in May 1903, which is 1 1/2 years earlier. As far as I know, there are no known square-butt K-frames before 58000 - except for possibly this 29986 . Roy's book says that the square-butt model was immediately very popular, so there ought to be some. But, we never see any.
