Only posted on the forum one other time. I live in Pennsylvania and I just bought a brand new SD9VE and I'm going to be moving out of state soon and was looking to sell it. It's brand new haven't put any rounds through it and I was looking to sell it but i really don't want to take it to an FFL and get barely 100 bucks for it taking a huge loss in money obviously, could anyone walk me through maybe some simple steps on how to sell it or where where I could get at least 250$ back for it

Richrey:

Welcome to the Forum. Unfortunately, in my experience the Sigma pistols don't have a lot of resale value. They are good pistols, but not very popular in comparison to other polymer framed pistols. Around here, I've seen the Sigmas go for around $200.00 or so, and that is after they have been offered for sale for quite a while. You may be better served by using it for trading stock for a firearm you really want. By the way, a local gun store in this area usually offers the SD9s or SD40s NIB on sale at around $299.99 + tax.

Best of luck,

Dave

go to a gun show and sell it there , I bet you might get almost what you paid for it

I have had good luck selling guns on armslist.com. There are no fees and your ad will get wide coverage. I do the deal in very public places so both parties are secure. Our Sheriff's Department encourages people dealing with strangers to complete the deal in the Sheriff's Dept. parking lot. Since Academy puts the SD9VE on sale regularly for $289, and tax would bring the price (in most places) to the $310 neighborhood I'd ask $275 and if a buyer wanted to negotiate I'd offer to throw in some ammo, or a holster. You can then retreat on your price if necessary. Be certain to put "No Trades" and "CASH Sale" in your ad. The ad is anonymous and buyers do not have access to your email address unless you respond to them. Buyers contact armslist and then the message is forwarded to you. Good Luck.

Best Regards,

I'm not clear why you need to sell ? , as opposed to bringing it your new location ?

In general , reputable dealers will pay aprox 2/3 of what would expect to offer it for as a used gun. Many dealers offer consignment , exact details vary.

In General firearms are good for holding value, but this specifically is kind of a worst case scenario - widely available new for low prices new. Unless you sell it to a sucker or prohibited person , probably worth more for its utility as a pistol than for quick cash turnaround.

If the gun is in fact brand new. You could possibly get close to what you paid for it.

Only downside to selling online is the ridiculous shipping costs to ship a handgun.

I'd try local first. Even on other forums as well.

Actually did a few sales face to face on ARFCOM of all places.

What state are you moving to? Perhaps you can take the gun with you and sell it locally. You may get a better price!

A local dealer here only charges 10% for consignment, but I don't think that's typical. He's able to sell about 60% or better of the stuff I bring to him.

If there's a gun show coming up, that might be good. Some online gun forums have a free classifieds section. The High Road, Taurusarmed, etc. Maybe even this one, I don't know. That might be your best low cost solution.
