Greetings!

I have been receiving Social Security for about ten years. I vaguely remember that in the first week of December, I would usually have in hand a statement on how much benefit I received throughout the year, and a statement of what I would receive each month for the upcoming year.

However, to date, I have not received either of these statements. Has anyone here that is receiving Social Security received either of these notification statements?

As always, thanks in advance for your help!

It's the SS office mailing them out. Do you expect them to be timely? I got mine last week, the M-in-L three weeks ago.

My wife and I received the notifications about two weeks ago (12-04-2021).

Once again, "Onomea" is right on target!!

Government agencies are migrating away from costly "snail mail" and eventually all information will be obtained using the Internet. The hyperlink that was provided in his post is correct. There is no cost to open an on-line account. There is also a "Help Desk" telephone number available if you have any problems.

There should be at least two reasons for written communications from the SSA:

1. Your annual 2021 SSA benefits statement, including our 2022 COLA increase, and

2. if you are receiving Social Security benefits, our 2021 SSA 1099 which we'll need for preparing our 2021 tax returns.

If I am correct, the SSA usually mails letters based on the first letter of your last name. However, with the chaos and mail problems associated with this holiday season, all bets are off!

I have received nothing yet this year but have so far gotten both my SSA-1099 for our tax return before the end of January (by which time the law says ALL income tax related materials must be distributed) and my coming year benefits form letter around payday in January (IIRC).

I have heard we are getting a raise this year.

YMMV. Good luck with it!

I got an email notification 2 months ago that I would be getting an update in December.

December 1st I got an email update and said I could go online to MySS and find out what it was.

About December 10th the letter came in the mail detailing what I already knew since I read it online.

If anyone hasn't heard yet, either their email address is screwed up, or their address, or the local USPS is not on the ball.

These occurrences have been every year since I started with SS.
