Question About the Model 15

I don't believe that is a shoe. I cannot say I've seen one like it. Possibly a factory target trigger that a real craftsman worked down. I prefer smooth combat triggers on my shorter barrel revolvers as I prefer double action point shooting. BUT,,,, THAT ONE looks like it would have a nice feel to it.

Possibly someone here can give a clue on the grips and trigger work?

With that serial number it is a K-38 Combat Masterpiece not a Model 15.

s/n K127435, a 6" barrel, shipped Nov 1951.

Model 15 IS a Combat Masterpiece. Your 6 inch gun is a Target Masterpiece or pre-Model 14.

And yes, I like the grips a lot. But they aren't Ropers.

All Model 15s are .38 Combat Masterpiece revolvers. But not all .38 Combat Masterpiece revolvers are Model 15s. Until 1958, they were not Model 15.

Since we are getting picky here, the K-38 was a K-38 Masterpiece, not a "Target Masterpiece." "Target" was never part of the name, despite what some collector books say.

Thats a very nice 38 Smith any way you look at it..I like it a lot !! Good on You for aquiring it.
The gun, grips , trigger , and Hammer really
set that exc piece off very nicely !!
Congrats, Randy..
