Question About the Model 15

Just acquired a beautiful Model 15 Serial Number, K127673. Hoping to get a date range on manufacture.

Very nice gun, the grips are especially nice they have the Roper look to them and if the are Ropers they are quite valuable.

I don't believe that is a shoe. I cannot say I've seen one like it. Possibly a factory target trigger that a real craftsman worked down. I prefer smooth combat triggers on my shorter barrel revolvers as I prefer double action point shooting. BUT,,,, THAT ONE looks like it would have a nice feel to it.

Possibly someone here can give a clue on the grips and trigger work?

That looks to be a trigger that a company like King would fit to a Smith and Wesson. Very cool Combat Masterpiece.

Model 15 IS a Combat Masterpiece. Your 6 inch gun is a Target Masterpiece or pre-Model 14.

And yes, I like the grips a lot. But they aren't Ropers.

Model 15 IS a Combat Masterpiece.

All Model 15s are .38 Combat Masterpiece revolvers. But not all .38 Combat Masterpiece revolvers are Model 15s. Until 1958, they were not Model 15.

Your 6 inch gun is a Target Masterpiece or pre-Model 14.

Since we are getting picky here, the K-38 was a K-38 Masterpiece, not a "Target Masterpiece." "Target" was never part of the name, despite what some collector books say.
