I have really been impressed with this pistol and am only sorry that I have been so late in the game coming to these Smith and Wesson products. I do have a question or two since I am not familiar with the generations of these pistols:

Does this pistol have a drop safety firing pin arrangement (in other words a block that prevents the firing pin from falling without pressure on the trigger)?

Is the plastic magazine release an issue with a metal magazine?

Are there any after-market sights you'd reccomend?

Any holsters that are suitable, given the narrowness of the weapon?

Your help appreciated.

. Does this pistol have a drop safety firing pin arrangement

My understanding is that yes, all gen3 S&Ws do. I have not verified this in literature, however.

. Are there any after-market sights you'd reccomend?

The sights on my 3919 are by Novak. Novak makes a couple different options, including night sights. I believe Meprolite also makes compatible night sights.

. Any holsters that are suitable, given the narrowness of the weapon?

I have two IWB holsters, a Kramer #1 1/2 and another made by a local leatherworker. I believe the "summer specials" or clones would also be good options. Take a trip to the gun shop with your handgun, they should be happy to help you spend your money :)

Drop Safety: Yes, called firing pin block.

Plastic mag release: Value Series designed for light use. Factory used to sell steel magazine release. Call parts.

After market sights: Existing sights are fine, but S&W parts sells night sights, or they used to.

Holsters: These are so personal that a comment would not be helpful.

A well fitted holster for a 3913/6906 will not accomodate a 908 because it's slide has a more blocky profice that the 3913. I cite experience with my Kramer scabbard made for the 3913.

However, my Kramer IWB #2 made for a 908 will accomodate a 3913/CS9/6906, just not as snug as the 908.

I used to have a 908. Mine had a plastic magazine release button, but the catch itself was metal.

3913 sights won't work due to different slide widths. I had Meprolights on mine.

Most of the custom holster makers should be able to accommodate a 908, I had an IAW from FIST. They are pretty reasonably priced.
