Question after JP3.5 springs install

Hi All,
This is my first post and would like to say this is a great forum. Now to my question. After reading and watching the videos for this procedure I installed the JP3.5 springs and it all seemed to go back together with no problems. But now my safety selector switch is very stiff and almost like forcing it to go from "fire" to "safe". But when the hammer is cocked and ready for the trigger to be pulled the safety selector works very smooth. I do not remember the safety selector switch ever being hard to move. What have I done wrong?

I have the same thing. I believe it has to do with the smaller spring that comes with it. I hope it just is not affecting the function of the rifle. I just assumed it to 'break in' over time with more use??

I also changed to a hogue grip and noticed that the part of the grip that comes in contact with the receiver did not have an indent for one of the springs. I figured it was the spring that holds the safety and that was why, because the spring appeared more compressed without the slight depression in the grip.

Either way, I took it to the range today and all was well!

The only time the safety should be engaged is when the hammer is cocked. Manual page 13..Lock the bolt back, engage the safety.

Yes, this^^

If you are putting it on safe when it is not cocked then you most certainly are forcing it. Dont do that...

The selector can't physically be moved to SAFE on the M16 Rifle unless the weapon is cocked. If you can do it you will damage the selector which I believe is plastic on this rifle. If you continue to do this the safety may eventually not work.
