I did not want to ask this toward the end of the recent thread about S&Ws in the Air Force, so I decided to ask these in a seperate thread.

Did all USAF Model 15s with 4 inch barrels have target hammers and target triggers?

Did any other U.S. Military Services issue the Model 15?

Did any foreign military services issue the Model n15?

Answer to the first question is "Yes." I believe it was part of the configuration specs on the contract, but I don't have a copy of the contract to verify this.

Not sure about the other two questions.

I am aware of a very small 1969 contract (80 units) for Model 15-3 revolvers that shipped to the U.S. Navy at Coronado, San Diego, CA for use by Navy SEALs. These were 2 inch guns. Excepting only that contract, I believe that U.S. military purchase of the Model 15 was confined to the USAF.

I am not aware of any foreign military purchases of the Model 15.

Charlie

The Marine Corps did have model 15 revolvers in 4”. The ones I serviced as an armourer were helicopter crew guns.
Most k frames were model 10s’ and I have seen 2”, 4”, both round and square butt configurations, both heavy and tapered bbls. We also issued Ruger Service-Six revolvers in .38 special also air crew guns. I have no idea about Air Force specifics but, I grew up in Great Falls, Mt where we had Malstrom AFB. I had been on the base many times as a couple relatives were AF and I was Marine Corps and used base privileges there and the SPs’ always were armed at the gate with Model 15s’. Cheers…
