Question for those who buy and sell through online auction houses frequently:

Only bought one gun in an online auction 5 inch 27-2. I have bought many at auction. Some of my memorable ones was over the phone...talking with one of the auctioneers. I bought a few from them that way. He let me know when I should bid and I did. I could hear the biding in the background. Got a nice Deluxe Win 64 with a bolt peep. He knew I was serious and didn't push me to bid...just said think they are done. I Bid another 100. they were. Every now and then I get a good buy at a gun show though. Ask their best price...too much walk away. Still there when ya walk by again they know you if they want to sell. Doesn't work on that blasted Two Bit Cowboy though.

I place a max. bid { proxy } on an item and that's what I'm willing to pay for it. If bidding goes past my max. amount, oh well ! Been an online bidder since 2008, with 242 transactions and an A+ feedback, never had any issues .

I don't sell guns on the auction sights. I'm only interested in a narrow range of firearms. They are fairly easy to sell or trade about anywhere in
U.S. They are not extremely expensive and they are wanted to actually
shoot. Upon occasion I do stumble on a NIB which I use as trade for high condition specimens that one doesn't feel bad pulling the trigger.
People bidding low end firearms online auctions are nuts. By the time you factor in Sales Tax, Shipping & insurance and transfer fee on your end you might as well support your local FFL and buy a new one. When I bid I factor in these expenses as price of gun. Not going underwater to buy anything.

A certain online auction site in Georgia was sold awhile back to a new company in Kalifornia according to 2 FFL's that I deal with. They then added additional fees , etc. to their transactions.
We do not have a sales tax here in Mt, and if the seller has an expensive shipping rate, I pass. I recently passed on a listing as the seller stated, " actual shipping cost ", and when I emailed him asking to cost to my FFL's zip, he said about $107. for a S/W revolver, oh hell no, thanks anyway ! If I am looking for a new gun, I deal locally as we have sevaral shops that will deal, and if paying cash, even better.
