Question from new member, Zetta on +P

I have the 442-1 Airweight. Love it. When getting some ammo yesterday, the dealer tried to sell me +P. I told him that S&W really doesn't recommend that you use +P. Am I right or wrong? Any additional info will be appreciated. Thanks!

First welcome from Ohio. Second my 442 is loaded with +p 38's as I type. I don't think I'd put 200 rounds of +p through it everyday, but otherwise you're good.

I'm sorry to inform you, you are incorrect. The M442-1 is rated for +P pressures. (although most +P ammo today is not so "hot" anyway) Take a look at the left side of the barrel, it will be marked 38 S&W Spl +P. I carry one daily.

I was told by S&W that shooting +P ammo through my Mod. 642 was OK. My 642 is just a different color than yours.
