Accuracy is subjective in all regards....what is acceptable to one is unacceptable to others.
For me as a competitive smallbore shooter (3&4 position/prone) MY needs are to have ammo that will stay inside the X ring repeatedly to be in the winners circle.
What that means is that on the 100 yard target the X ring is less than an inch, the 50 meter target X ring is about 3/8th of an inch.
Assuming that my rifle is up to speed (1813 Anschutz) the ammo to be competitive needs to stay within those parameters, which means that I need to use Eley Tenex, RWS R-50, Lapua Midas etc. Expensive? Oh, yes it is......does it deliver? Better believe it.
So, it is all relative...do I need that kind of accuracy in a good gopher colony? No...only on the range in a match.
