Came across a 12-2 today that has me confused. It is the typical 4" but this one has a lanyard ring. Its a round butt and the serial number was re-stamped on the back strap some time ago. It also has an importer's mark from some outfit in CA. It was cheap enough so I bought it but I can't figure out who put the lanyard.

Any help would be appreciated, Morgan.

A bunch of them came in about 15 years ago that were trade in guns from the Royal Hong Kong Police. I remember holding a square butt 4" model 12 with RHKP and a number stamped on the backstrap, I wish I would have bought one then as they were relatively cheap and the guns were mechanically excellent. The RHKP had 10s and 12s all with 4" standard barrels and either square or round butt frames, every one I ever came across had the lanyard ring. Could yours be one of these?

model 12-2

Morgan,
I'm in NW NM, bought a model 12-2, the guy I worked with for 17 years carried it with him, never knew he had it, he passed away 3 years ago and his son sold it to me, the gun has never been fired, gave me the box of original 38 sp. that his wife gave him with the gun. Don't know if I'll shoot it. Sounds like you got a real collectors gun with the one you bought, if you come across any more good deals like that would you please let me know ?
Have a good day
John
