I found a LNIB 10-7 with a 2 inch barrel complete with box and paperwork for 450 bucks. Does that sound reasonable? Any idea when it might have been made the serial number on the butt is 4D17XX4. Any reason to steer clear of this gun? Thanks for any input!

That is top dollar but if you want it you have to ask yourself when will you find one in that condition for a lower price.

The book says 1979 4D00001 - 6D10000, so looks like 1979. If you want it, buy it. Even if the price is on the high end, in the years to come it will exceed the buying price.

I have always wanted a revolver that was made the year I was born, 1962. The closest one I have is my model 10-5, 1967-68. I think that revolver is trying to tell you something........."BUY ME NOW"

For me, that price would be within the range that I would pay. You have a few things going for you. 1)The Mod 10s are great shooters. 2) LN with box and papers, 3) 2" barrel for cc if you want and these are very popular now and 4) year of birth. The stars are alligned just right, I think it is speaking to you. Buy it.

Unless you abuse it certainly won't lose any value at that price, and as others have counseled in a year or two it will start to look like an even better purchase as time goes on.

Well thanks to everyone's advice I went ahead and bought her! It is a beautiful revolver. It had every piece of paper that would have come with gun including an unfilled out warranty card and the original hang tag that listed the gun for $165 bucks! I guess I paid too much at 450! lol. It literally looks brand new and I pretty much have OCD so that means something coming from me!
