Has anyone ever seen a cylinder latch like this on a PC gun? I would like to know if it is factory or after market. I have seen these on 66 L Comps but not on a Mag Comp.

The only other pic I have seen shows the Mag Comps with these....

doesn't look stock to me, but I am absolutely no expert... GOOD looking gun though for sure! I have always seen them a different shape.

Looks like the factory thumbpiece was ground off, top and bottom. You can pobably get a replacement thumbpiece from S&W or Brownells. What dash -# is this, and does it have a ball detent on the crane? Its a nice looking 629. I've got a PC 629-6 in the same configuration, which has a normal new style thumbpiece.

Those thumbpieces are custom in their modifications, they give clearance for speedloaders.

The 629s are PC customs.

Is that the one you got from the abusive s.o.b. off gunbroker?

He probably ground the thumblatch prior to shipping. Cause that's
what s.o.b.s do.

Toss up if its original. Maybe not now that i see the others.

It is NOt aftermarket ,just modified.

F comp thumbpiece. 1993

After being modified by the P.C. technician, it was then flash chromed.
OR ,, maybe bead blasted to match the finish. Either way the edges are nicely radiused.

How are the edges on yours top and bottom? Sharp, or smoothly radiused?
