I just rescued my 2nd 6944. The one I rescued SN falls in the skjos documented range TFB0047-0558 and has a square trigger guard. My other 6944 has a TZBxxxx SN with a round trigger guard. From my research there were 512 produced 6944 in 1991.

My question is "does any one have a 6944 with a round trigger guard?" Does it fall outside the documented SN range? Thoughts?

Thanks

I have seen a few 6944's in my day, all with the hooked trigger guard. I even used to own one. But I have never seen one with the round trigger guard that was not a gunsmith modification. Something was fairly common in the early 90's when S&W made the change. Now the 6946 on the other hand definitely comes in both versions.

Thanks mlk18 for the input. Here are my 2 6944's. As u can see one has square trigger guard, the other is round

Do you have a straight on side pic of the top one? The front strap looks a little uneven compared to my 6946, but it might be the angle. Might be an early RTG or conversion. Are you the original owner or did you buy it used? Not making any accusations, just curious.
