I am considering sending in my model 66-8 2.75" to get some tuning done on it but I'm a bit confused as to what the difference between the "combat revolver package" and "master revolver action package". The first is more expensive but seems to get less than the second. Can anyone explain exactly what I'm getting with these packages?

The Combat package appears to be the Master package plus a bead blast finish. That's why it costs more.

Received my 5" 686+ back from S&W this week. They did the Master Revolver Action Package and recut the forcing cone (no charge). The timing is now perfect and the action is slicker than whale snot. It appears they installed lighter springs too, because the pull is just slightly heavier than my 3" 686+ that has a Wolff reduced power mainspring and 14 lb return spring installed.

Also, I sent it in without grips but it came back wearing these (also no charge).

S&W knocked this one out of the park!

If they recut the forcing cone you now have a 4 7/8” gun. They did the same to my 4” m-19

I asked them to diagnose why flames were shooting out both sides between the cylinder and barrel, and why the barrel seemed slow compared to my other revolvers. Checked the gap prior to sending it out (0.0065"), so I knew that wasn't the problem. Turned out the forcing cone wasn't cut properly. Checked their work with my bore scope, and it looks good. Need to get to the range today or tomorrow but I'm excited.
