Not complaining about the new firearms. Had a question regarding the press release for the new handguns, one instance said other models of the 686 will be discontinued and the current new 686plus will be the only one. Was this a mistake? think the new revolver is the Performance center revolver and will not affect the other models in anyway. opinions?

I highly doubt that Smith would/will discontinue one of their best selling revolver lines. I would tend to believe it was a mistaken statement.

Page 47 of part two of the 2014 S&W catalog shows two 6-shot 686s , a 4" and a 6"..

Could you post a link to the document that states the 6-shot guns will go away?

I received 2 S&W press releases in my inbox this AM, one for PC guns and the 2nd re regular production items. Neither mentioned discontinuing the 686. Must be a 3d release somewhere.

My new 686plus Talo SS 7" barrel

I have a mess of Uberti made cowboy revolvers. I lose screws. They misfire , they are romantic shooting. I love them , no regrets. I am disabled and I need better home protection. I took my time searching on the web . My revolvers have got to be sexy. Blue steel is my favorite . The Talo 686plus SS 7" barrel non fluted revolver is so awesome. It took me 4 months to receive it. It eats everything. I just made some .357 magnum rounds- Lehigh defense-Xtreme Penetrator 140gr bullets. Hodgdon Lil'gun shotgun power - half the pressure - The reloading chart said , 1550FPS with a 158gr bullet. we used 140gr bullet. I thought that I was shooting .38 S&W Special at 850 FPS. I fired two rounds at my local indoor range. Two star holes were present. I am so happy with my Smith. A 586 is on order right now. I buy new revolvers to give a fellow American a job.
