Questionable .44 Magnum ammo.....

How bad is the corrosion? Surface discoloration or crusty green? Brown tarnish is usually not a problem, but if you see green, that can be serious corrosion. Green around a primer pocket or the case mouth can be a sign that the worst of the corrosion is actually internal.

The most likely problem to find in old ammo is duds -- but if it has been stored in anything like decent conditions, duds will be few. If the ammo will chamber in your cylinder, either as-is or after being lightly wiped off, it will pose no real danger to you or the gun. If it won't chamber or there are visible large pits in the brass, I'd throw it away.

The main problems would be misfires, hang fires, bullets stuck in the barrel and case splits.

Be careful.

I'd shoot it, but I agree with what ironhead wrote. I've shot ammo from the WWII period and has some experience with everything he wrote. I had old some 303 ammo that would hangfire. That bothered me to the point I tossed the ammo. I was afraid I'd forget and open the bolt on a "dud" just to have it go off with my bolt 1/2 way open.

I need to get a new photo hosting site. Will try to post pic(s) soon. Thanks to all who replied.

Really don't need a hosting site, this site will facilitate you uploading directly from a computer?

If they are green in color then shoot them on St. Patrick's day…
