How to figure the manufacture date when four digit ser# begins with DWJ86xx? Thus the last three digits can't be the day of year manufactured.... Also my trigger pull is off the 8 pound limit of my RCBS gauge. Is this unusual? Love the looks of the dark earth dual tone and the pistol does appear to be in the "like new" condition advertised. Now if I can just do something with the trigger.....

I got one of these too and I agree with you that the trigger is OUTRAGEOUSLY hard. I got mine just today and I cannot imagine how you could keep it on target when you pulled trigger. I have the Apex on my other M & P and it is heavenly compared to this. How does your gun look shape wise? Mine has had quite a few rounds through it but looks to be in overall good condition after a cleaning.

The serial number has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the date of manufacture. The factory does not keep dates of manufacture, as far as I know. They can, however, tell you the date it was shipped.

If the trigger is too heavy, send it in. It may have shipped with the heavier trigger option because it was ordered that way, or because it was originally sent to a state that required it.

I would agree with their description of "Like new" condition with my pistol. No problems there.... I did read an article on wikipedia about the MP semi autos for some law enforcement agencies having 10 pound triggers. I suspect mine is a trade in from one of them......
