I'm negotiating with a seller on the local gun forum regarding a 24-3 4" he has for sale. Serial number is 3 letters and 2 digits, no P&R. I know there were heat treating issues with some of the stainless .44 special revolvers, but did those issues carry over into the blued models? This one looks very clean from the photos, and he has the original box. Asking a lot, but I don't mind "buying early" on this one, assuming the steel is not a problem.

To my knowledge there are no problems with cylinders being made of bad steel on the 24-3. I have both the 24-3 and 624 in 4" and like them both, great guns.

What is he asking for the 24-3? Like you I had to have one.

I have a 24-3; there were no problems that I ever heard of.

Also curious about asking price...bought mine for about 1K a few years back. It turned out to need a trip back to the factory because some amateur worked on the hammer and sear. It came back $100 later with MIM parts.

Caveat emptor.

How does the trigger feel now with the new MIM parts? I have purchased replacement parts from S&W which were MIM and I was happy with the performance of those parts. Sorry about the diversion.

I feel like a highjacker. My LH 24 is great! Sorry.

Asking price was $800, which given the condition was reasonable, and I ended up buying it. It's a two hour drive to pick it up so I won't have it in hand until next week.
