Several weeks ago there was a post suggesting a simple means to correct shots that go left to intended point of aim with his Bodyguard 2. The recommendation was to align the front sight to the right post of the rear sight. As I was experiencing this with my BG 2, I tried this out with very good result though it does require, at least initially, to “search” for that particular sight picture given the width of the rear sight. I found a quick easy fix for this issue was to narrow the rear sight using thin strips of tape. This allows quicker acquisition of the target. Not able to get a better picture.

I upgraded the sights to the new XS Sights that have come out. The front dot is larger, and I like the rear better. YMMV

Original sights are on the LEFT in the photo.

A better solution, for a good sight picture,is a BG1.0 rear sight, if you can find one.
I'm thinking about the XS sights; they appear bigger and brighter, but also very wide for the BG2.0's narrow slide.
I'm pretty happy with the current setup.

The Bodyguard 2.0 was never intended to be a target pistol of any kind. It's nice that YouTube is replete with videos showing how it can hit a target at 50 or 75 yards, but its intended purpose was purely a defensive pistol.

I added the XS R3D sights because I couldn't stand the back sight or the color orange for a sight. I also don't take it to matches at the range.

But it sure is nice to know that if you're in a fight for your life with someone shooting at you from 25 yards away, you can effectively return fire and make hits. Life doesn't always allow us to dictate the terms. My video posted on this forum shows me scoring all but one hit on an 8" plate at 25 yards and that was a very near miss.

I respectfully disagree. At that distance there are too many variables in play: adrenaline pumping, distance itself, and the state you live in. 25 yards may be too far for a legal, defensive gun fight.

The BG 2.0 is more of a 'close-up and personal' defensive firearm. I sincerely doubt any LEO would see it any other way.

I talked to two state cops at the gym this morning about this post and both said "if someone's shooting at me at 50 yards and I don't have immediate cover, I'm shooting back". I totally agree with them; if someone is shooting at you from a distance and you don't have any immediately available cover and nobody is next to your assailant, why would you want to be a sitting duck? If it happens to you, let us know how it works out.

Good post.
Some time ago a post on this site mentioned that most video of gel test are not really FBI protocol since that protocol requires auto glass, wallboard and sheet metal in addition to gel. My initial thought was....so? I ain't never ever gonna shoot through sheetrock, glass..etc...!

BUT, I have since heard of a shooting by a person that needed to shoot through a windshield from the inside of the vehicle. The fact is, none of us knows what the facts are going to be.

Our state Retired Officer shoot for LEOSA requires a 25 yard stage. At home I have been trying to extend my distance to target for a few shots.
Hopefully time will show that I never will need any practice of any kind. But if needed, as the wise cop said...."I'm shooting back".

There are too many variables and dynamics in an altercation where you have to pull your firearm in self-defense or the defense of innocents, unless specific documented events can be described, it’s all hypothetical.

What would the survivors of the Indiana Mall attack say when Mr. Elisjsha Dicken fired from 40 yards, 8 shots, 7 hit the shooter, say about a close encounter “point n’ shoot” vs. take careful aim at greater than 25 yards?

The BG2 appears to be designed for a highly concealable or pocket carry, a close-up attack response weapon. Unfortunately, in my worthless opinion S&W missed their mark a little bit. If I had to use the sights to target, the orange front sight is too dim and the rear sight is practically impossible to quickly find. If I had to shoot at beyond 7 yards, I’d want to be able to use sights and not a “point n’ shoot” action.

After nearly 200 rounds, the factory sights are barely good enough for my eyes to hit the A-Zone at 15 yards consistently. I’m waiting for ArmaLaser’s green laser. I’m also considering upgrading to the XS Sights.

Why I upgraded the sights immediately after purchase.

Yes, quite a few posted here that they upgraded and are very happy with the XS Sights. I resisted the temptation in order to give the stock BG2 a fair evaluation at the range at different distances.

I'm in frugal mode, so I tend take a little longer to spend money on hypotheticals. T.P. and coffee still have priority in our house. :D

Coffee is always first on our list... ;)

I agree the original front sight was too dim for my eyes. Wish the rear had more windage adjustment but it's ok for now. Maybe if I get time after my planned training this July for AIWB and Red Dots with my Shield Plus I'll spend some range time and tinkering with those iron sights.
