Quick question

I've found a nice model 13 at a really cheap price. There is a problem with it though. The seller told me over the phone that it is missing a part, the "cylinder release". I assume he is referring to the thumbpiece, but I am not totally sure. I can have it as is, or he is willing to get a new part and replace it for $50.

How hard is a thumpiece to replace? I assume that I can do it, or do I need a gunsmith. I'm competent with my hands, but I am not Macgyver.

If anyone thinks that he might be referring to something other than the thumbpiece, I'm all ears.

Sounds like the thumb piece to me. Should take about 10 seconds assuming you have a proper screwdriver.

The stud may have pulled out of the bolt (I had one do this). If so, still and easy fix, but more than one screw and a thumbpiece.

I bought the revolver as is yesterday. It looks like it is only missing the thumbpiece (older blue version) and the thumbpiece nut. I called up S&W and they are sending me the parts this week.

When I get it fixed I will post pictures. Thanks for the help.
