I own an SD9 and have recently purchased an Uncle Mikes IWB holster for it. Is it safe to carry the gun with a round in the chamber? I also have a blackhawk holster that I rarely use that I feel is safe to carry with a chambered round.

I have a 9mm sigma, and use a owb dom hume slide holster and always, always have one in the pipe. Does the SD have a lighter trigger pull than the sig's??

You need a sturdy holster (I prefer kydex for safe-action guns) that covers the trigger and discipline to keep your finger out of the trigger guard until pointing the gun at the intended target. Beware a strap or anything that can get inside the trigger guard when re-holstering. I don't like soft holsters that can be pushed into the trigger guard.

Then you're good to go to carry chamber loaded. The gun will not fire until/unless the trigger is pulled.

It depends do you plan on pulling the trigger? No gun is ever safe the degree of safety comes from the person operating the firearm.

As long as the trigger isn't manipulated the gun will not fire

blkpitbull: I can not answer that question about the trigger pull compaired to others because I do not know. Maybe some one can verify that for us both.

OKFC05: That is why I bought the Blackhawk however when I am wearing it you can really tell that I have a gun on me.

So far I have been carrying it with out one in the chamber. I can not tell if the the trigger is being bothered with the soft side. I put the gun and holster on together and the gun usually does not come out of it, however I do have a bad habbit of if I am sitting downstairs with it and watching TV I will take it out and lay it on the table in front of me. My kids know not to touch it so that has not been an issue yet.
