Hi friends,
Here are a few quick photos and thoughts on my recent purchase of a police trade-in M&P 40 FS from CDNN Sports on sale last week for $300. The pistol arrived at my dealer in three days, packed in a plain cardboard box. It had only the medium backstrap but still had the orange S&W chamber flag. It came with one 15rd mag which looked nearly new. The pistol looks as if it was not fired much and was quite clean inside and out. What I thought was rust on the right side of the slide appears to be some type of discoloration in the metal finish. The only real rust I found was two very small spots near the rear sight on the left side (pitted) and on the takedown lever. The rust on the takedown lever easily was removed with 0000 steel wool. I called S&W and was told this pistol was made in Oct of 2009 and was shipped to Puerto Rico. I hope to shoot the gun this week, but I must say the trigger pull doesn't seem that bad to me. I am dry firing the gun everyday and it seems pretty smooth to me now that I am used to it. I'm quite happy I purchased the gun, I hope to get a factory 9mm barrel for it if Midway ever gets any in stock.
Stay safe.

Nice find! I'll have to keep an eye on CDNN in case I see like deal like that.

Congrats!

Thanks for the pics DASA. Mine is identical, arrived in the same, plain cardboard box as yours, but instead of the couple of tiny discolored spots, I had some very minor wear on the slide release (both sides). Otherwise, it looks like new inside and out. I did have a chance to get to the range yesterday and was not disappointed. This thing shoots beautifully. It took a magazine to get acclimated to the sights (it was shooting a little low) but once I adjusted my sight picture, it was very accurate and not at all too "snappy". I needed to cover my target with the front sight rather than place it below and all was great. At about 25-30 feet, with Winchester 180gr fmj, I was quickly grouping at about 8 inches. Not match grade accurate (me, not the gun), but certainly very respectable for my first outing. It functioned flawlessly with no problems whatsoever. The trigger definitely leaves something to be desired and is less than smooth for the first half of the pull. I've heard the magazine disconnect may be partially responsible, but it really is not too bad and may have more to do with the "newness" of the gun. I shot about 100 rounds with no discomfort (unless you include the slight pain in my cheeks from smiling) and would definitely recommend this gun and the company I purchased it from. When I last checked, they still have them in stock, but are no longer at $299. (now about 20 bucks more). Still an amazing deal. I also ran about 50 or so rounds through my .40 Shield. I wish I could say it was as comfortable to shoot, but it wasn't. It is manageable and it's staying in my collection, but the full size .40 spoiled me. The Shield will be my defense only gun from now on and just fired at the range to keep my reflexes in check.

SMITH & WESSON M&P 40S&W DARK EARTH FS/NIL 1-15RD

Looking for a good price on a S&W M&P40 in great condition. On CDNN I saw a Dark Earth 40 in "like new" condition. Since ya all have experience with this dealer, what is the difference between "excellent" and "like new". The price for this is $369. Thanks

I also looking for an M&P22 to practice with since the 40 and 22 would have same frames. Thanks

I have a factory 9 barrel I will sell you for $50 + shipping. I recently purchased a 9 FS now I don't need the conversion. I haven't used it much, maybe 500-600 rounds.

You can PM or email me if interested.

What do you think the trigger pull is? Normal 6.5 lbs or 10 lbs. I read some were shipped with a heavier trigger weight requested by some departments. I ordered one from CDNN for $319, advertised in exc cond. I am out of state at the moment and have not picked mine up from the dealer.

Hi friends,
... I called S&W and was told this pistol was made in Oct of 2009 and was shipped to Puerto Rico. ...
Stay safe.

The only thing cooler would be if it were Department marked!:)

Just picked up mine this afternoon, also for $319. SN has the same DTC prefix as yours mine is in vg to exc condition. This trigger has a noticeably heavier trigger than the 40C I just bought, but breaks more cleanly. The 40C kinda rolls to the break after the navigating the gritty pull. Can't wait to shoot it. Tremendous deal...

Thats a great looking pistol and a steal at 299. CDNN is hard to resist with all their great ads via email.
A couple years ago I bought a surplus 9 FS with factory night sights and one mag from frequent forum seller 2Gunjay. It arrived in cardboard box and I have been more than pleased. I got that one for 365 shipped, so after my transfer fee it was mine for 395. I now have 6 in the M&P collection with 4 bought used. These are very durable and have to be nearly abused to start to look bad.

Just wanted to add, I haven't shot my M&P40 yet, but I just took it down to clean, lube, etc. The pistol is clean; virtually unshot. The striker assembly and striker channel was clean, no powder residue. There was some cleaning to do in the barrel but it came out clean very easily. My Hoppe's soaked rag is still pretty clean after a good 15 minutes of cleaning all over. Now I really feel like I got a great deal on this pistol. :) Will finally know when I actually shoot it though...soon.
