I've had this pistol for probably 15 or so years. I traded my neighbor an old garden tractor I had for it. I've shot it a handful of times, but I'm not much of a revolver guy.

I don't have the box/papers for it, just the pistol itself and it is in nice shape for it's age. Any idea on value?

Thanks for any info! -

In my neck of the woods the 3" RB are much more desirable, and much more pricey, than the 4" SB, probably due to the FBI association. I recently paid $1,200 for a very nice 3" RB here in CA, where the prices are somewhat higher anyway. I can't tell much from your photos as far as condition but I would GUESSTIMATE about $600 value. I am confident somebody with some actual expertise will jump in here soon.

The pistol originally belonged to my neighbors son, who purchased it when he was a deputy. My understanding was this was his duty pistol. Not sure if he modified it to his liking or not.

Retired W4,

What is "magnas"?

Thanks for the replies!

Magna are service style stocks, the same dimensions as the grip frame. If you look at the revolver at the top of the Forum page those are an early version of these.

The original stocks would have been walnut, checkered with rounded bottoms, called modified or plainclothes (PC) style.

Nice gun

Greg,

In my neck of the woods I'd expect to see a similar gun for sale in the $750-$800 range.

The gun is currently wearing what is referred as Target stock.

The attached photo is showing what I feel should have shipped on the gun referred to as Magna PC (plain clothes) rounded bottom edges.

Ah! Ok, very interesting. I've seen the Magna grips on pictures of other Model 13's I've seen. The original owner must have liked the chunkier target grip. I haven't taken the grips off to grab the serial number off of it. I would like to track down the actual manufacture date.

...I looked. It's D911XXX

I appreicate all the feedback.

That serial number likely dates this revolver to 1977. And we know it is not a Model 65 because I don't believe 65's were made in this serial number range. It's a 4-inch nickeled Model 13 wearing "Football Targets." They call 'em football due to the football shaped cut-out at the top of the left stock.

Market price varies, I agree with the estimates given so far.

A little, gentle, polish with Flitz and then some Renaissance Wax and that's $900 or so around here. Maybe a bit more with PC magnas.

A good looking, non P&R M65 would be $750ish around here.

I'm in the DMV area (DC, Maryland and Virginia.)

The pictures appear to be a stainless revolver, which would make it a model 65, the stainless version of the model 13. Might just be my old eyes, if blue, then a model 13. Around here I would say $700 plus.

If the guns are original, one difference between a nickel model 13 and 65 is the latter will have a matte silver ("flash chrome") hammer and trigger. This gun has the standard case-colored parts of carbon steel guns.
