I kept the original parts to switch back to its normal look. Some day the feds will outlaw this because it has a Grip or what ever. Still...really cool that for about $100 you can switch from a "normal" rifle to a "AR". cool rig.

My mini has the synthietic stock..not the woodedn stock.

Agreed...I'd like to see a larger photo of your "after".

I've tried to like the Mini-14. I've owned two or three, but never kept them long. But a couple weeks ago a LGS had one of the new "tactical" versions for a price that couldn't be refused. It has a folding and collapsing synthetic stock, the new heavier 16" barrel and a couple of "rails". For $400 I couldn't leave it there. It is one of these:

Ruger® Mini-14® Tactical Rifle Autoloading Rifle Model 5846

No tricks, no gimmicks just plain stone basic and reliable rifle for me.
:D

After the "Norway incident" we can't get a license on the mini14 in Sweden

You can slice it, dice it, call it any name ya want... .223/5.56 is still a .22. :D

Featureless Mini-30. Delivering 124gr of 30 caliber corrosive Russian goodness. ;)

Now... if anybody has some genuine Ruger 20 round magazine rebuild kits to sell...

Here's a quickie phone cam pic... my mini14 in a Troy Ind. stock set up which allows for AR style components.. with a Nikon P223 scope.

Oh ya... and I have about 10 AR's... this is just another variation of a fun gun.. :)

Uh, just askin here, buy why not just buy an AR? Dale

1. Not everybody wants an AR.
2. In Kalifornistan a pistol grip (among other features) will require you to put on a mag lock. Google "bullet button."
3. $1K & up price tag. $1K for just the upper if you want 7.62x39.

In Kalifornistan it's illegal to transfer magazines with >10 round capacity. It's perfectly legal to transfer disassembled magazines as rebuild kits. Some companies actually offer disassembled mags for a few $$$ more, but mostly for evil black rifles and boxy black pistols. No Mini-30. :(

Ruger doesn't even make a 10 round mag for the 30 and all the aftermarket 10 rounders are junk.

Fishslayer, I failed to look at your location. Where I live, we do not have the restrictions that you do and I tend to forget that some locations do not have the freedoms that we have in the South.

Maybe that is why I would never live where there are a lot of unnecessary restrictions.

i dont think he means "AR" as in AR15. I think he means "AR" as in Assault Rifle.

I might be wrong but i had to think about it for a minute myself!

I inherited a Mini-14 Ranch Rifle from my Grandfather when he passed a couple years ago, and it is one of the most prized rifles in my safe. I know it isn't a bench-rest tack driver, but for a Ranch Rifle it is a great gun. One of my favorite features on it is the safety in the trigger guard.
