Need some help. I recently got a 329PD with the Fiber Optic front sight - it's great for shooting, but sharp as h*[[ for holstering and catches on anything close to it. I looked at Brownells and Midway and didn't see many choices for a red ramp front sight, except one that is .278" tall. Is this the correct height for .44s? Would this one be within the adjustment range for .44 Spls and mild magnums? If not, what height is correct? thanks in advance for any advice.

(I'll take a picture when I can - this gun is not pristine, the side plate screws have been changed, and I didn't get the Ahrends stocks with it).

My 329 is .250 but you could almost go to.260. The back is .160 factory.Shoots POA 240-to- 300 grs fine. Make sure you get the width the same as on the gun for spacing of the sight. H Bowen made mine so good luck finding something you like because he just does not sell them outright. I called. Going out of town. Would be interested in what you chose so please PM me when you do.Back in three days if you need more help.Good luck.

I think if you get the parts for a 4" 629, they will work, I would call s&w and see what they have

I talked to S&W and they said 'The Midway 0.278" sight would work fine' and to try that. So, I ordered that and got it today. When I took off the SDM Fiber Optic sight, I was surprised to find a hole for the pin (which the ramp sight doesn't have). It fits well into the slot, but there's no daylight for the pin - is this the wrong setup, or am I missing something? Thanks, I greatly appreciate any assistance.

PS. the sight had been removed before (i.e., I didn't booger-up the area around the pin - it was like that when I got it).

You have to drill the hole for the pin in the new sight....... And it is easy to screw up and not be lined up with the other side. Best bet is to drill little by little, alternating sides until the hole is drilled completely through.

PS, get a set of punches and leave that one for finish nails! :)
