Range bag advice

I just use a plastic tool box for the mags, moon clips, screwdriver set, hearing protection etc. A plastic multiple pistol or rifle case depending on what I am doing. I can drive right up to the bay I am shooting in so it doesn't matter how efficient my carry gear is. It also helps that I live 5 min. from the range. Nothing fancy here. I try to spend most of my money on the guns. I am usually the only guy at the match with a tool box for a range bag but I have never really cared if people thought I was cool.

I like my Dillion range bag for pistols, and a bigger one for rifles I got at a show. I carry tape staple gun muffs plugs compact cleaning kit timer targets bag for brass screwdrivers for sights sight pusher and spotting scope. That's with both bags along. Fold up hand truck is nice to add.

I am a bit of a minimalist. My Shield, Full Size M&P, and mags live loaded (no kids in the house) in this case...

The Shield comes out during the day for carry duty and at night it gets returned to the case and the full size gets place on the night stand for home defense.

When I go to the range I use a Northface back pack. The entire M&P case, stick on targets, and cleaning/tool kit go in the main pocket. Ammo in plastic 100rd ammo cases go in secondary pock. Eyes and ears go in the mesh exterior pocket. Its easy to carry and has everything I have ever needed at the range.

Hello, my name is Rastoff and I am a bag-a-holic. I have tried too many bags and will probably get more. Even so...

Here's the one I use for pistol stuff and general range trips:

LA Police Gear Jumbo Bail Out Bag
It's large enough to carry all the stuff I need for one day at the range, but small enough that it keeps me from overloading it and I can still carry it.

I can get three pistols plus ammo for all. Then there's the list of things that just stay in the bag:
Stapler
UpLula
StripLula
Leatherman MUT
Timer
Plastic bags for casings
Safety Glasses
Magazines for various guns
Pen
Cleaning supplies
Allen wrenches
#2 and #1 Philips
Punch
2 rags
Ear protection (I actually carry these with me all the time. They are small)
Gloves

I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting. The bottom line is it's a really nice bag. For $30 I'll bet you can't find a better one.

How is this a problem? It just keeps the range clear of the riff raff. ;)

This has been my range bag for 3 years now and still is the best $14.99 I ever spent. Holds everything I could possibly need for a day at the range. I liked it so much I ordered a back up so I won't have to worry about a replacement for many years to come.

It depends on what you are carrying to the range and how often you go. If you are just going to practice and you don't go often, you can find a bag for $40-$50. If you go to the range all the time or do competitive shooting (that's what I do), then I highly suggest you buy something quality right off the bat (buy once, cry once). I just got the Tactical Tailor Competition Shooters Bag (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2552). It's not a cheap bag, but it holds everything I need and it is well made. Inside the bag I have:

2 sets of shooting glasses
Ear protection (with extra set of batteries)
Clean towel
Hand sanitizer
Roughly 350-400 rounds of ammo
10 mags
M&P Pistol
Pen
Notepad
Some assorted small tools for rifle/pistol
Bottle of water (have put 2 in there with no issue)
Snack Bars
Range ID
Work Gloves
Speedloader
Stapler (for posting target to stands)
Working on a first aid kit

And I still have room for some more items (mags, another pistol, ammo, etc). It is an awesome range bag!

If you're looking for understated and practical, take a look at the range bags at MidwayUSA.

Think this company has best options, not cheapest. I have tactical one. holds 3 guns and all stuff mentioned above. Yes the have wheelie options also.
Medium Range Bag | G Outdoors

Thats the bag I have, the medium GPS. I really like it, just big enough for what I need. Solid construction and I found it at walmart for around 50 bucks. My only gripe...I can't fit a stapler in the stapler pocket. Not a big deal as I can still get everything I need in the bag.

Wow, $15 is a great deal. Do you have the regular Bail Out Bag or the Jumbo? The one I pictured is the Jumbo.

No...you're quite correct. I paid $14.99 for the smaller BOB bag and $12.99 for the second several months later on a even better special offer.
I'm still able to carry everything I would need for 3 handguns and 2 shooters with more than enough room left over for water, snacks, cleaning and first aid gear and ample ammo.

I was using an old computer backpack. Got a $50 gift card to my LGS and shot the wad on a Drago backpack. It holds all I need...3 pistols, ammo, magazines, earplugs, safety glasses, targets, staple gun, cleaning kit and a rag.

My girlfriend and I both use bags purchased at Walmart for under $20. It has a compartment on the end where we put targets. Inside it has a compartment that will fit a handgun case on each side and our ear protection, loaders, ammo and anything else goes in the middle. When we go to the range together we usually both carry two or three handguns each with some ammo with no problem. I do have a very nice range bag purchased at Academy Sports that I rarely use because it is so big and a big heavy even empty.
