Range bag recommendations

Here's my favorite. Had several over the years. They don't wear out, I just find something different I like. Good Missouri company . . .

BAGMASTER - Quality Bags, Cases and Holsters

Muss—I like to buy from local companies like this, but I can’t get the sections, tabs may be the right term, to work on the link. It opens to the page, but then I can’t look at the individual sections. I will try on my office computer later, think maybe it’s my iPad?

I just joined the NRA, I'll use their free bag for awhile and buy a few pistol rugs

But thanks all for the advise, as my collection grows my needs will change[emoji4]

I have one of those. The central area is kind of narrow. Lots of pockets and high quality but look at the earmuffs. They touch both sides of the compartment.

The central compartment has 2 adjustable padded flexible partitions. They attach to the ends with velcro. Those are what you see touching the ear muffs. Those can be taken out or adjusted. That pic shows the full central main compartment with the dividers.

Sometimes I only take 2 or 3 but other times I may take 6 or 7 handguns to the range and I will say its easier to carry two lighter bags than one really heavy bag. The fabric will also last longer if you don't put too much weight in it and I generally just get the fabric bags in the tool department at Lowes or Home depot and each handgun is in a pistol rug or wrapped in an old towel.

Farmer...

When my wife has the sewing machine out AND we have a worn cotton towel, I have her cut the towel and sew gun socks. They’re soft (beaten to death in the dryer) and thick. I store handguns in them and throw them in my range bag still in the sock.

The NRA range/duffel bag I got with my renewal worked so well that when they offered that deal again I got another bag .

Take a look at Blackhawk Sportster Pistol Range Bag , 16"L x 9"W x 8"H, very good bag , $ 32.00 price and it holds a lot of stuff. I find it's size extremely useful ...too big can get ungainly , this ones just right .
If you want a larger bag check Blackhawk's other bags they have several other models .

My current range bag is one I got from the NRA. Nice size, hold weapons, ammo, speed loaders (if necessary), hole tape, glasses, ear protection and my range book and ID case. I like it very much. Good stiff material and leather strappings.

I just use the free bag I got from an electrical supplier. 2 side pockets for glasses, etc. one big center compartment for everything else.

These days I'd suggest using a Gym Bag, Back-pack or something that does not scream out "Range Bag" and certainly not something that is camo or NRA marked. Too controversial and no one needs the hassle. I'd also suggest not putting any patches, stickers or logos on it as well. Just my opinion of course........

I’m aware of that. My staple gun in kept behind one of those partitions. I just wish the bag was 4” wider or so even with those partitions in.

I use an Uncle Mike's Side Armor bag. Some of them are deceptively large. It's hard to tell from the specified dimensions or online photos. I bought, and returned, 2 of them before getting the one I wanted.

I found that a rigid bottom and semi-rigid sides are essential for me. Some of Uncle Mike's bags and all the tool and gym bags I looked at just flopped over. They wouldn't stay upright. This may be important to you.

Chief38 makes a good point, the Uncle Mike's side armor bag looks pretty non-descript. It's just plain black and has no blazing logos. It doesn't look very "tactical." Of course, a potential thief may look at the fairly large bag and steal it just because there "should" be something valuable in it. But there's still no sense in advertising the contents.

After re-reading the above posts, here's one more thought. I almost never put my pistols in the range bag. I use the bag for all the other stuff I routinely take to the range. It stays packed and ready-to-go in my man cave. I use various pistols and of course rifles don't fit in a range bag so they're all taken in other cases.

Exactly. I use a 15" tool bag from HD, cost $15 and is nondescript. Fits a couple (2 gun) soft cases + ammo, eyes/ears, targets, soft 6 mag holder, etc. No fancy pants "range bag" needed, or wanted.

I love my Ruger range bag. Ruger's website has all kind of gear acessories and parts you can by. The only new gun I ever bought was a Ruger SR1911 and they give you like $20 off or 20% off a purchase so I got my range bag through them. Plenty of room and lots of pockets to carry stuff.

I just grab my Ryobi tool bag. Holds 2 pistols in rugs, 300 rounds, ear and eye protection.

LA Police Gear makes very good but inexpensive bags. I have 3 so far and just ordered another. I recommend the Jumbo Bail Out Bag for your needs, but the smaller Bail Out Bag is killer as well and has been my personal travel bag for almost 5 years now.
