Looking for input for contents of a 15-22 specific tool kit for the range bag. So far contents are; front sight tool for MBUIS, Allen wrench for pistol grip. Searched the forum and didn't find anything.

I usually carry a multi-purpose tool, bore snake, CLP, and a small GP cleaning kit containing brushes and whatnot. I also carry my spare ammo in the bag as well.

i dont really take any cleaning equipment with me. since i have a large double bag, i have all the allen wrenches, screw driver, batteries and other little tools/accessories for my guns.

Not quite the same subject, but how many people carry an emergency medical kit to the range with them?

After 10 years of shooting, and hearing one or two stories of people shooting themselves (cowboy fast draw mistakes and the like) I've finally put together a mini IFAK style kit to carry with me, just in case.

There is a first aid kit at the club house, and I have one in my car, as well as a boo-boo kit, but I now carry immediate use equipment on my person when at a shooting range. It all folds down to a small package.

It is a CAT Tourniquet, Israeli bandage, compression bandage, chest seal, gloves and a pair of shears.

The CAT is set up in the single handed application style. Just in case.

Currently it is in a First Spear tear away pouch, but this was bought sight unseen off the internet and it is much too big for the application. It will work fantastically as an actual combat deployed IFAK, but for a range emergency kit I need something about 1/2 the size.

I carry the basics, a multi purpose screw driver/allen wrench tool, spare batteries, extra ammo and will be adding a sectional .22 cleaning rod as mentioned by Majorlk, for clearing those stuck cases.

my main indoor range is at a gun store so i really just depend on them for tools/cleaning/medical if i ever needed it. the outdoor range is also supervised so same there.

I think the most important tools in my range bag are the Allen wrenches for everything that could potentially come loose. The Leatherman tool takes care of most of the other needs.

Kayback, I commend you for always having your first aid kit with you. I am a retired firefighter/EMT so I do have two suggestions. Take out the tourniquet and add a pocket mask. There is no need for a tourniquet in urban environments. They are sometimes used in lengthy battlefield evacuations but not likely necessary in the situations you may encounter. A pocket mask on the other hand is the most important piece of a good kit because it is there to protect you! CPR is a very unpleasant event and doing without tools makes it that much worse.:(

I tend to bring everything with me...I know it is overkill. By the time I finish loading up my Jeep with my guns and stuff, there is no room for people. I really need to pare down my kit.

Like I said I have the CPR shield in my car. It's close enough that it can be gotten to in time. I may move it to the range bag in the future.

I know TQ's are used for emergency use, but I feel being around guns that needing to stop some bleeding NOW is worth the extra hassle of having it with me. Compression bandages and quick clot are all good and well, but if you get shot at close range with some 55 grain 5.56mm or a load of buckshot I'm thinking a way to restrict the flow to allow the other's to take effect is a good idea.

Our ambulance service also isn't the world's best. I don't want someone to bleed out simply while we are waiting for the EMT's to arrive.

I know TQ's are a touchy subject, I'm just erring on the side of any damage I do will be less than someone dying.

Hey, if I never get to use it, BONUS!

Have been for well over 45+ years. My kit is more advanced being a "old" combat vet and also retired volunteer EMT/Firefighter.

I think it is a great idea to carry a first aid kit to the range because you never know what can happen. Just make sure that you carry more than band-aids in it.

I have a leatherman and the Allen keys for my scope mounts.

Some band aids for when friends get bit by those 380 autos they like to bring.

Good info here & thanks for the comments. I just got a new Midway range bag & wanted to outfit it properly. Never used a Leatherman tool before but have ordered one now.

I do keep my small flashlight in my bag also.

Make sure you throw a dime in it for emergency scope adjustment "just in case". A small roll of duct tape in case your sandbag developes a leak.;)

Thanks. I do keep a full screwdriver set & a full allen wrench set. Haven't thought about duct tale, but that is a good idea.

For me, I bring a Military Surplus mechanic's bag. I carry an allen wrench kit, leatherman, streamlight microstream, CLP, and a multi-piece cleaning rod. The bag also has room for an aditional 300+ rounds of 9mm and four M&P magazines (two in the bag, two in the front pouches).

For hunting, I use the same style bag, just with two straps rather than one shoulder-strap. In that, I have my Streamlight, 100ft of 550 Paracord, Leatherman, Buck 110, handwarmers (WI, so its cold), Gloves, snacks, and an extra box of 30-06 ammo. Occasionally I will throw the .44mag on my hip, and I'll have an extra 12 rounds or so for that too.

What can I say... Im a light packer :D

Spoken like a true hunter! The key words in your reply, and the ones I personally liked, were " an extra box of 30-06 shells".:) I always take way more ammo with me than I ever use or need. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. Plus I always carry a spare coke with me as well!:D
