New to the forum but I recently picked up a M&P 40FS so I've been on here for while doing some research etc.. Couldn't decide between the M&P 9 and 40 when I decided to get one but I'm very happy with my 40. I am hoping to get some info on good range bags. We have a pretty nice range not to far away from where I'm stationed right now and the big advantage is that they have short/long range pistol, short/long range rifle, and archery. Each area is a little spread out but we like to take advantage of each when we are out. I normally have 3 pistols, mags, ear pro, ammo (pistol and rifle) paper targets, stapler etc. What are yall using and what works best?
Thanks for any info

I bought this one from the S&W store, it is high quality & durable with all metal hardware much better than what they sell at BPS or the Academy.. they come in a couple sizes, this one is the smallest as I only own 2 pistols, it works for me. plenty of room for both guns, couple hundred rnds of ammo for both, my ears, magazines etc...

Product: Range Bag

I use a non-descript canvas tote. Holds all my stuff. It's by one of those WalMart suppliers, not sure which.

The last thing I want is a bag that screams THERE IS AN EXPENSIVE GUN INSIDE.

YMMV, of course.

I like padded bags that do not have any "branding" on them at all. I do not like to advertise that I have guns, etc inside. Something I would caution you against.. do not get a bag that is too big. You will end up putting tons of stuff in it and it will weigh a ton! Trust me, been there, done that. You would be surprised how much stuff you could get into a smaller bag. I saw a backpack style bag that I really liked.. In the bottom half of the backpack, it unzipped and inside were 3 gun rugs. The top half had lots of pockets for ears, etc. Something like this might work for you..

Are you leaving your guns in your car or truck or something? Because if you roll up to the range with a Gucci bag or something it's not like people won't know what's in it.

Another vote for Midwayusa range bags. I just keep eveything in there so I don't forget anything. Ears, eyes, first aid, tape, flashlight, stapler, etc.

+1 to CaptRon956. I too use the range bag from the S&W site. Works great, no complaints. It's not cheap, but it is well made & doesn't look like some bargain brand bag.

Bought a large Expedition bag from Amazon. Almost too big, but I have no complaints (until it gets heavy-LOL). Also bought a Winchester Deluxe Shooters bag off E bay for 22 Bullseye League night. This worked well for me. I think it came with 2 gun rugs and just has 1 large main compartment.

As mentioned before, the larger the bag, the more stuff your apt to put inside. A good medium size bag should work well for you. :-)

I personally just carry a padded The North Face backpack (same one I use for hiking) and my ammo box haha. Nothing too fancy. My backpack holds my ear protection and a couple pistol cases inside. That's all I need.

another user of a backpack here; one that is a little stronger so it can handle the weight of ammo boxes in the bottom, a couple handguns in their soft cases, plus the odds and ends pockets hold my 'eyes and ears', etc. Nice that i can throw it over my shoulder if needed, works well for me anyhow and as others have noted it is more nondescript.

Back when S & W came out with the M & P's they gave away range bags similar to the one you pictured with each purchase. I still have three of them and gave away a couple.
I have used my original since I got it for my regular range bag The others are back up or light suit cases for short trips. They have held up well, especially the one I use as my range bag. They will probably outlast me.

I ordered mine here http://www.shop.hafnerbags.com/ They make them there (in the USA). They have a large selection of styles and will customize the interior or make any changes you need. Nicely padded and well made.

I bought a Blackhawk Sportster Deluxe from Amazon. I find it large enough to carry 2 or 3 guns, ammo, targets, cleaning kits, ear protection, etc. If I remember it was $39.00.

I just picked this one up from LA Police Gear.

Available in black, OD, foliage, and desert tan.

Great reviews and only $19.99.

LAPG Tactical Bail Out Gear Bag Best Seller

I have the same one, and it appears the same bag that a friend has from a different vendor. I load it up with ammo, two pistols w/ 3 mags each and 2 ears and eyes. I also store my targets, a staplegun and misc cleaning supplies as well! Works perfect. Couldn't beat the price and the quality is there.
