I finally had a chance to shoot my M&P 2.0 9mm 4.25", and my Glock 19X yesterday. I shot American Eagle 115 gr FMJ, Federal 115 gr 9BP, Blazer Brass 115 gr, Blazer Brass 124 gr, Remington Golden Saber 124, Golden Saber 124+P, Speer Gold Dot 124+P, and Hornady Critical Defense(unknown grain).

Both guns shot everything perfectly, except the 19X stumbled on the truncated cone Critical Defense. I had two Fail to Feed malfunctions in the first 7 rounds, I stopped at that point and unloaded that magazine. I certainly don't blame the Glock for that, I have had quite a few pistols over the years not run truncated cone bullets reliably.

One thing that annoyed me, the Glock continually threw brass at my head, and twice I ended up with a hot casing down my collar. The M&P threw every fired casing perfectly up at a 45 degree angle and to the right. The Glock was throwing casings erratically, but mostly to the right.

Both guns felt great in my hand, both triggers felt the same, both drop empty mags freely. They are very similar, except the Glock cost $230 more. The Glock does have Tritium sights, and came with two 19 round, and one 17 round magazine. The M&P came with two 17 round mags, and standard sights.

My 2.0 is my first M&P, but not my first S&W autoloader. It certainly wont be my last. I'm considering a 2.0 in 40, just because I want another 2.0, and I don't have a pistol chambered in 40.

I expected my 2.0 to run reliably, and I wasn't disappointed. I ran 470 rounds through it, and it never missed a beat.

To be fair, the 19X is priced at a premium but still the M&Ps are still cheaper than the normal Glocks. Priced fair enough to have made me want one for a long time.

I bought the 2.0 Compact in 9mm last December. Just a slightly smaller version of the full size. For me, that gun is the perfect size and one of the best out-of-the-box guns currently available. It has been utterly reliable with a variety of range and self defense ammunition, and has proven to be very accurate. I was so impressed with its performance I recently bought the .40 version. I've only been to the range once, putting 253 rounds through it, but so far it's been just as impressive. Glad to see your full size is performing well for you. I don't think you'd be at all disappointed with the .40. The Compact version is one of the softest shooting .40's I've ever shot. I would think the full size would be too.

I have a new 19 x and the brass goes here and there . I also picked up a MP full size 2.0 40 cal L/E package with 3 mags and night sights and its been flawless .

In one range session?

My skin has gotten thinner with age and with the aggressive texture on my 2.0 compact anything more than 150 rounds starts to get uncomfortable. When I first started shooting it even that was too much but my hand must be building up thicker skin where needed. I was going to sand it down at first but am not glad I didn't.

Still, after shooting more than 150-200 9mms I am just making a lot of noise, not improving my shooting. I find I get more out of more frequent range sessions with fewer rounds shot. Depends on the caliber too. With my S&W 69 a couple of cylinders of full power 44 magnums is more than enough. About 50 rounds of the weaker 44 magnums I normally shoot is plenty but I could shoot 44 specials all day.

My M&P 2.0 compact has also been 100% reliable so far. I like it better than my Gen 4 Glock 19 because it fits my hand better but cannot say I shoot it better than the Glock.

I was simply shooting these pistols to check for reliability. I would have shot more, but it was cold, and windy.

I suggest padded bicycle gloves for shooting heavy caliber handguns, or aggressively textured grips. They have open fingertips which makes loading magazines easy, and allows for trigger feel. I learned quickly when I bought my Kahr CM45.
