Went to the National Forest Range near me on Wednesday. Only the second range trip since Covid and ammo shortage. Took the .22s rifles, and Model 63 and my Shield and Beretta 92F. Shot about 100 rounds of .22 and a box of 9MM. Was shooting 50 yards with the rifles.

Only upside to the current ammo shortage is that I had the range all to my self for several hours in the morning and it is better condition than I have seen it.

Fortunate to have such a nice range within reasonable driving distance. The range was built as a joint venture with National Forest, Game and Inland Fisheries and a nearby Community College.

Wow...A state range, what a concept. I've heard the state took over a range near Boise where the black powder guys used to have a territorial match. The state took over and because a few locals wanted to shoot and it was state land they couldn't stop them. So during a full on match, these yahoos show up and call for a cease fire, go down and set their targets and interrupt a bonifide National Territorial Match just cuz they wanted to go shooting. I'm glad you are fortunate to have such a nice well appointed range to enjoy. I have one within 3 miles of my house, its semi private, we do allow the public in but during sanctioned matches we close down shooting until the match is over.

The weather these last few days has been absolutely perfect. Not too hot, not too cool, very little wind. I noticed yesterday morning that all my neighbors were out doing yard work, so I thought I'd do a little yard work myself just to get outside and enjoy the day.

Here's the yard I went to work at:

Before you start on yard work you have to get your tools ready:

I've been going to this range a couple days a week recently and almost always have the whole place to myself. Even though I have a very good stock of ammo for my modern guns I've been mostly shooting black powder lately as it's my newest hobby.

I can spend hours there just enjoying both the shooting and the weather. It's very relaxing to me.
